Some say the name "Bigfork" is derived from the Salish name for the area. However, our village of Bigfork, is a fork where two rivers, the Flathead River and the Swan River, flow into Flathead Lake.
Perched on a hill above the northeastern shore of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, our location offers both water and mountain views that are unmatched. Originally the building was the village’s first bowling alley, however, in 2014 it was bought and converted into two spaces. Our space, the FLBC Pubhouse, and the other being the home of the Flathead Lake Brewing Company (FLBC). Our namesake and Bigfork’s local brewery founded in Woods Bay, MT in 2004.
Even though we are two separate businesses, we have a fun time sharing the brand. Sandy Johnston, the pubs original owner, opened the pub in 2015. The mission, to create a "Cheers" vibe where everybody knows your name all while eating amazing food and drinking remarkable craft beer and other local Montana spirits.
Little did she know that one of her first hires, Nicole Harker, would end up being her partner and co-owner of the FLBC Pubhouse in 2024. Nicole hopes the pub isn’t just a place to grab a drink — it’s where stories are shared, laughter flows as freely as the taps, and strangers become friends by the end of the night.
